Chaos Army Update: Daemon Prince #2 Done + Greater Daemon

With #2 down and my Greater Daemon done, I can finally focus back on my other squads. For this guy i used skull takers head on the old daemon prince body, and the new plastic daemonprince wings and arm. Couldnt think of how to paint the sword so i left it black...for now.




Epidimius will be my greater daemon as he is one of the coolest models in my opinion.

It could work, right? The Spawn are the biggest distraction and the two rhinos can try and capture objectives if needed, and the D.Prince is there to lash things towards the spawn. Now thinking about it i could take out some spawn for some anti tank or more troops but this is the list for now.

CSM: Other ways to make a competitve list

With all these new armies that have came out, chaos really has been struggling. Just looking at the typical "net" list you see the same thing: 2 Daemon princes w/ whatever(Mark of slaanesh, lash, mark of nurgle, warptime) 2 squads of berzerks and 2 squads of plague marines (or just 4 squads of PMs) and of course Oblits. This isnt the only way to win? Is it? Dont get me wrong it is a good list, but one thing i think it lacks is firepower. Oblits can only target 3 things per turn, with a max of three shots per squad if its not plasma cannons. The way ive seen people play nowadays especially with the space marine codexes, there is just spam coming out the (***) with autocannon dreds, speeders with missles, long fangs, preds, razorbacks, etc.
By the time their shooting phase is done all your rhinos are destroyed. And with psychic powers like null zone daemon princes are down to their last few wounds.

For awhile now ive been playtesting all the units in the codex to see what else works and what doesent. Heres what i came up with:

Plague marines are way too expensive and reg. csm are the better choice. Saves you tons of points for other units.

Daemon Princes are hands down the best HQ in the codex for their price. Imo, lords and sorcerers are just not that great. They usually only work in close range and they can get instant killed.

Chosen and possessed, i dont know. Sometimes their good, sometimes their not so good.

I think terminators are ok. They make good support squads, i just wouldnt give them any mark other then mark of glory just to save points.

I like the chaos dred. for only 125 you can get a twin linked las and missle launcher. I dont mind i going fire frenzybecause it only shoots at what it sees in front of it and i always keep it distant from majority of my army but put it in front of a squad of oblits. Just dont roll a 6. I havent yet.

All the other troop choices are too expensive. Noise marines would be great if they had an option to take meltaguns or plasma guns.

If your taking rhinos, always add extra armour

Spawn = No

I love bikers. A small squad of 3 with 2 meltaguns are great at controlling the opponents movements. Super cheap and very effective

Raptors are alright but i prefer bikes

Havocs are great. A 5 man squad with 4 autocannons will pretty much allways kill something a turn. I use that for rhinos, razorbacks (same thing), and storm ravens.

Dont need to say much about oblits. So i wont

I dont like Preds,vindicators, or defilers just because i think theres better options but ive seen people make them work.

Despite being expensive land raiders are cool, although i prefer giving them D.possesion so that they can fire all their weapons.

Basically, the landraider with termis stays back and shoots, until the enemy comes close enough for assault or if i need to contest an objective. As i said above the Dred, oblits, and havocs also hang back and shoot. Depending on waht the situation is, i will run the daemon prince up behind the landraider too just give the opponent something else to shoot at while i run up with the DP. the Bikers are there to rush up and more or less control what the ememy shoots at and destroy any vehicles in its way. Their also good for contesting. While all this is going on the 3 rhinos just capture objectives.

Whats More Effective?


Lets just say someone (not me) who had a mostly assault army (berzerkers mostly), needed to replace a unit (defiler-150pts) in order to get some sort of unit that has access to heavy firepower...
1) Chosen
They have access to meltaguns, plasmas, flamers etc.. and can infiltrate or outflank (it may mean the same thing but i dont remember). It is an effective unit, especialy since the list that they have is a more straightfoward army. Having outflanking chosen with meltas would really make the opponent have to divert their forces.
2) Obliterators
Obviously their great, but since the person(not me)only have 150 pts to spend, that will only give him/her 2. Not enough in my opinion since they get killed by strength 8 and 9 weapons fairly easy.
3) Terminators
They dont really carry much besides combi meltas and heavy flamers, but they can definatly turn the game around if used right.
remember, they ony have 150 points to spend..
So what do you guys think is better? Is there a unit i missed? This person really needs help!

Tournament Approved: Part 2


After talking to UltraBob about the list i was going to use for the tournament , i realized that even though the old list with was effective.. against the current "competitve" armys that are being used(space wolves,blood angels,imperial guard), it is lacking some well needed firepower. So i came up with this. I really want to try this one out. If successful, i will be using it in the tournament. I havent played against space wolves yet so their first on my list.

Definatley not as simple as the other list. I gave abaddon 3 terminators to accompany him in the landraider. Since majority of my units arent fearless, giving them icon of chaos glory is almost a must. The last thing i want is to have my troops get massacred in assault. The oblits are definatly a plus. The noise marines were really just to fill up the extra points. It also dosent hurt that they are fearless and initiative 5. They will probably just sit on the closest objective, or accompany another unit.

Now thinking about it, the dreadnought wasnt really a mvp in any of my practice games. It was a good distraction though! What should i do? If i replace it, it will probably be with 3 deepstriking terminators with combi meltas. Keep? change? thoughts?

1750 Khorne List


Ive finalized my khorne list.Played with it monday against Tau . I wont get into too many details but i will say that this list is 100% effective and may or not be my new competitve list. I won with a massacre. Playing it the way i did, made it a very straight foward list. I literally just moved the max 12 inches with all 4 of my rhinos and my landraider with kharn right into the middle of the table. Also moving my defiler 6 inches into cover and shooting the battle cannon. My opponent destroyed 2 of my rhinos on his turn, but it was already too late. By 2nd turn, everything was in assault range. The khorne berzerkers destroyed vehicles with ease, since they have plasma pistols and get the extra strenght from furious charge and have power fists. Kharn, well, hes kharn, the landraider moved 12 and kharn jumped out and assaulted. Killing 6 kroot out of 12 on the first try. Since the defiler gets 6 attacks on the charge with a strengh of 10, it is really hard to not kill something. I just moved 6 inches and fleeted another 4, putting me in assult range with a squad of tau suits that tried to shot me on his turn 1. I killed 2 out of 3 then he failed his leadership and i tried to catch him and did, thus killing the last one. From then on it was just a kill fest. kharn killed 2 squads of kroot and a squad of fire warriors. The berzerkers just assulted everything, and anything. When a massacre roll was given i just moved them as close to an enemy unit as possible. By turn 4, all that was left was a devilfish. The list was meant to be a "fun" list. With every move i just thought "what would khorne do?" any chance i got to assault with the defiler, i did. I wasted no oppourtunites and no time. With an army whos only long range weapons are 2 twinlinked lascannons and a battle cannon, you just cant waste any time getting towards the enemy. I never got to use the combi meltas, but their still good to have just in case.
What do you guys think?The main idea is to give my opponent alot of diffrent targets. They see kharn in a LR coming at them so they may focus on him, but then theres 4 rhinos full of berzerkers on the right side, if thats not enough, theres a defiler rushing towards you on the left! Anyway, heres the list...

Blood for the Blood God!


Ive have been playing my "competitive" list consisting of the lash, oblit, plague marine spam about 4 times, and i am already getting tired of the whole idea. I mean, there are more ways to win games, and tournaments for that matter than using the same 3 boring units right? Although ive had a great amount of success with it, i feel that its time to branch out and see what else the chaos gods have to offer. With that being said, heres a cool 1750 list ive wanted to try out for a while(and i will on monday hopefully). Its Khorne with a capital Kill, Maim, burn! I dont even want to get into too much detail so here it is...

Whoa did i just do that? Basically kharn leads the charge in the landraider. All the rhinos rush up with him while the defiler scurries across the table laying down the battle cannon. Everything moves max 12 inches first turn popping smoke of course, then by second turn kharn and all his friends are in your face. "I am the Eightfold path, There is no Way off the Path. We must only go Further"


call it crazy but it just might work.
*EDIT * I replaced Abaddon to increase all squads to 8 men each.

its a list that im planning to play for a little while. Im thinking about replacing huron ,the sorc, and maybe a squad to fit in abaddon and 3 terminators. only problem with that is i will have one VERY expensive unit and less troops. As of now, its a pretty strong list.... Any ideas?
