Ahriman Conversion

Ive always wanted to use Ahriman because the artwork for him is just really cool, and its great that its in color now. Its a shame that the model isnt as good as the artwork. Now with the new codex, ive made a few lists including him that could be pretty mean. So this was a perfect opportunity to finally make the Ahriman i wanted.

Alpha Legion Heldrake W.I.P + Some Chosen

The Heldrake has so much detail to pick out! It took me a day to just do the blue/green paint and the silver on the top part of the model. Still gotta do the other side and add all the little details like the eyes, claws, ect.

Alpha Legion Chaos Lord Conversion

 

 Apart from the Helbrute, I havent painted any of the chaos stuff from the dark vengance set. So i decided to try to paint the chaos lord. I replaced the sword with something different because the one it came with looked funny to me. Im gonna use green stuff on the shoulder where i cut the sword hand off and fill it in with more fur. The sword was painted to look like it had souls trapped inside it hence the smokey effect. This is also the first time ive done chipping on power armour so i hope it came out ok. I really do like this model, and i may just change my list around for the BFS tournament to use it..

Getting Inspiration to Paint

My goal is to one day win a Golden Daemon. Im always trying new ways to better my self as a painter. It really helps when you have people who are great painters at your club and can give you tips to take your models a step further.

Alpha Legion Rhino Weathering

 I wanted to give my rhinos a more dirty look to them so i tried some weathering techniques. At first i was painting in the chips in the armour, but ive learned that using a sponge to do weathering gives the best results.

Alpha Legion Hellbrute finished!

 This model was so much fun to paint! Alot of detail on a piece thats just for a starter set. I can only  imagine what the new chaos figs will look like.

 As soon as i first saw the pictures of the starter set and its contents, i thought out how i was going to convert the models. So when i got the set i started right away making the proper conversions that i had planned for so long.

 Just got mine and wow is all i can say. GW has really outdone themselves. Every model has amazing detail. One that really stood out was the limited editon chaplain who has a detailed base already included. But honestly every model in the set is well done.

2012 has been a really good year so far.

Defilers in 6th edition

     With this codex reaching its end and with 6th edition out, i decided to try out some of the other heavy support choices available.The defiler has come out as a shining star in this new edition. So much so that i think it is a better choice than obliterators right now (again in this codex, who knows how they will be in the new one). In this edition, having a good defense is key and i feel that the defiler fits this role alot better right now. A stock defiler has a reaper autocannon and a heavy flamer, with the battle cannon being the primary weapon. Dont forget it still has the dreadnought ccw so it strikes at strength 10. Its initiative 3 so most likely it will go last but hopefully it wont be in combat with something that can hurt it. Ordance are really good now and not just because youcan essentially snipe out specific models,but vehicles are hit at full strength no matter where the template hits. This means that you can now take out multiple vehicles at once. Now it can fit the anti tank and anti infantry role quite well. Sitting back with at least two of them can be devastaing if placed right. Im not sure but i also think you can snap fire the reaper autocannon as well. That 72 inch range gives you free roam at what you can target, especialy in "hammer and anvil' deployments. The Defiler has found a good home in 6th edition and i hope this new codex serves this Daemon engine well.

Chaos in August and im still disappointed

Well it looks like daemons are getting some sort of update. After all these rumors of CSM coming out next month, GW changes the release schedule and put daemons ahead of chaos space marines. I was really looking foward to the chaos marine dex to come out next month but they changed the white dwarf at the last minute. So i guess Chaos marine codex September? (starter set is supposed to come out then as well) or October? Maybe CSM is still in the white dwarf but there keeping on the hush? I dont know what to believe anymore.

Battles of the 41st Millennium!

 6th Edition has been able to make some pretty interesting battles. With fully painted armies and terrain, you can have the complete gaming experience. Lots of cool pictures below of a german themed IG vs American themed Space Marines game. Enjoy!

Should Allies and Double Force Org be Allowed in Tournaments?

There has been some talk about whether or not allies should be allowed in tournaments.While they can add balance to armies that may be considered "weaker" and  help compesate for thier weaknesses, the more powerfull armies will become alot stronger aswell. Also, having 2 force organization charts means that the best units in  codexes will be spammed quite a bit. I can see many players taking advantage of this.

Alpha Legion Chaos Sorcerer

I made a post about a kharn i did using the warhammer fantasy Krell model. Honestly i dont like it because it was too simple of a conversion. It was just the krell model with a chainaxe. So i scrapped it and used the base model for my chaos sorcerer.

6th Edition CSM Rules Question

Do csm d. princes count as flying monsterous creatures or jump infantry? It says in the Chaos FAQ that wings add jump to the unit type, but if a monsterous creature can fly, isnt it a "flying monsterous creature" and should follow those rules?

Well i tried my best to avoid talking about 6th edition until it came out but this just made me very happy. It looks like chaos space marines and daemons can work together again. As a chaos player this made me tear up a bit. Im really looking foward to 6th now :)

Alpha legion Dreadnought

Just used goblin green and enchanted blue with the blending technique. Im actually pretty happy with how it came out and im looking foward to painting a whole army like this! Still gotta do the head.

Kharn the Betrayer Conversion

I tried to go for a different look this time. Fluff wise, Kharn dies quite a few times but is resurrected by the blood god. So this is my zombie kharn! No power pack. Just ancient armour, a chainaxe, and a plasma pistol. A simple conversion using the vampire counts Krell model.

Chaos Space Marines: 4th, 5th, and beyond

I started playing 40k at the end of 3rd edition. The 3.5 codex was the perfect way to start off my venture into the hobby and into chaos with all the interseting fluff, and variety that was in the book. Those were the best times i had with chaos.

Painting Alpha Legion

  Ive always loved the alpha legion and after reading some of the fluff from recent books ive decided to start a new chaos army. I already have a plan for the army (using warriors of chaos as a base for all the regular marines and ive made some human operatives based on the "legion" book but more on that later.) but before i can do anything i had to get the color right first. Ive looked around for tutorials and i noticed that some use just blue and silver as the main colors while others throw green in aswell. I personally have always imagined them having blueish-green armour. No scales, as i see the AL as being a plain, not trying to stand out kind of legion. Hiding in plain sight kind of thing. Its hard for me to explain.

True Scale Noise Marines!

Rob from the club has some really awesome chaos marines, with light up rhinos and heavily converted Daemon Princes and obliterators. Last week he came by with some truescale noise marines.

 I honestly cant say how he did them but he did sculpt all the shoulder pads and i think the legs are from chaos terminators. Theyre used for kill team missions.

Pre Heresy Storm Shields and Mortarion W.I.P

My order from thewarstore.com  came in. Im really suprised at how fast it took for it to arrive. Ordered on monday, came on wednsday. I will definatley keep going there for more bits! I got 2 packs of "mechanical sheilds" by Maxmini. Ive seen some artworks from the Horus Heresy and a few of their novel covers and they show some marines using sheilds that look similar to these. They remind me of riot shields. Ive got enough for my 20 terminators and i think they will complete the preheresy look im going for.

Pre Heresy Death Guard (Deathwing) W.I.P

 Just a quick post on an army ive been working on for the past month. I did a pre heresy deathguard army back in 09 and i after i sold it i kinda stopped caring about the whole heresy thing. After reading "Flight of the Eisenstien" i felt inspired again. This time to make an elite army of Mortarions most trusted warriors of the first company.So above is my Typhon/Belial. I went against the trading card artwork that shows him in dark grey armour because i want the army to be unified in color. They are all gonna be TH/SS termies so i ordered 2 packs of mechanical sheilds from Maxmini since they fit the pre heresy look which is why other than Typhon( who also counts as a TH/SS) they all are missing shield hands .
