(Feedback appreciated)The Battle for Salvation tournament is coming up in a few weeks. Unfortunatley, its the same weekend the new codex comes out so ill be using the old one for the event. Ive Playtested a bunch of lists and this is what i came up with and while ive have had some sucsess with it, it still needs work:
Daemon Prince - 185
-mark of tzeench
-wings
-bolt
-doombolt

x4(5) plague marines -180
-2 plasmaguns
-rhino
x2 Defilers- 150
Allies
Company Command - 140

-chimera
Vet squad - 155

Vet squad - 155

Manticore- 160
I usually replace the prince powers with telepathy. If i end up not getting the powers i want the primaris for telepathy can be pretty good at taking out objective holding troops. I feel like they are really expensive right now but i just dont know another way to make them cheaper. Lash? Other than that they make good distractions and for target saturation they work really well.
Ive been going back and forth deciding whether or not to play an all foot list, but after trying out some lists i think this chaos codex just isnt really good at it so ill just leave that to the IG, Space wolves etc. I think i have a soild core with enough mobility and firepower to deal with most armies. Have great midrange but its the longe range firepower im debating about. When i made this list i wanted to have an army that worked in layers. Fast moving flying distractions(princes), mid range mobility able to deal with infantry and tanks(plagues and vets), then long range backfield anti anything. Obliterators dont fit that role well enough especially if at most i can get 4(unless someone can help me move points around and add more). Defilers and manticore add some long range but is that enough? Should i drop the manticore and defilers for something else? Any other changes you think are needed to make this list better?
Looks fine to me but...
ReplyDeleteThere isn`t cc units (only Daemons P.)
So what you do if there is CC?
I wouldn't worry too much about close combat, having 2 fast dps and defilers for counter assault (which is how I would position them if you are up against a deathstar opponent) are great, because you can send your PM's up to eat the charge and negate your enemy's charge bonus.
ReplyDeleteI think your list is good, as far as Codex Space Marines goes, but if you're not sure about the Manticore/Defilers, you might consider 2 predators on your flanks with good firing lanes (Dakka) and a leman russ demolisher in your center. This will have a psychological effect on your opponents and provide shots on armor as well as a big crater for hordes and the like to eat.
Personally, I think the defilers have more flavor.
The only thing that I would worry about is flyers. Although you have a lot of melta and plasma, you still will need 6s to hit with everything in your army against an enemy flyer.
ReplyDeleteRemember, that Flying monstrous creatures DO NOT count as having skyfire, so still snapshot against flyers.
I would probably say to either get an aegis line with a quadgun, or try to fit a flyer of your own into your list. If you do the aegis you can probably drop a transport as one of your squads will need to be defending the line and manning the gun.
I do like the two defilers in the list as it takes pressure from anti-vehicle weapons off your AV12 transports and places it on AV13 defilers that can shrug off shaken and stunned results.
Thanks guys. I do need some anti flyer, I'm gonna try and fit an ageis defense line and quad gun. Maybe drop one plague squad with 5 man regular chaos marines.
