I was able to get a hold of the new codex, if anyone has any questions about it ill answer them this morning. *Im not posting rules pages, please buy the codex. This is just a discussion.
I haven't played 5th yet and wanted to know how the Nurgle marked units look in this codex. I have a small collection of bare models I wanted to make into a showcase army using Nurgle, but if they are not a playable choice I may just stay away from 6th. Thanks in advance!
Nurgle marked marines are pretty good. Plague marines are 120 for 5 and then 24 pts per model for up to to 15 more. up to two can replace their weapons with either two plasma guns, 2 plasma pistols, 2 meltaguns or 2 flamers. They carry plague knives so they wound on for no matter the toughnes. And you need a lord with the mark of nurgle to unlock plagues as troops. But yea they are pretty good. Typhus makes cultists zombiesfor free.
Typhus is kinda the same. Hes 230 now but hes ws 6(last codex he was 5 i think) he has an ap2 st4 large blast attack he can do once per game called the destroyer hive. Ahriman is sooo much better now. Has access to Biomancy pyromancy, telepathy, and tzeench diciplines. Mastery level 4. Can strikes at his initiative has rage furious charge and hatred, also a2+ deny the witch. Ithink rage is +2 strength so that plus his axe would give him str 8 on the charge!
What special rules/abilities does the Heldrake have, it was supposed to be amazing at killing fliers but after the WD battle report and most recent rumors it doesn't seem to have anything making it out to be a flyer god.
Honestly, the heldrake is ok. It has a str 7 vector strike but thats it. you can upgrade hades autocannon to a baleflamer for free but thats it. Just 170 points flat. plus the it will not die and deamon forge and it has the daemon special rules.
Whats the deal with thousand sons, nowadays? Let me elaborate...
In the last codex, they have nearly no options, were 23pts a model, the sorceror was minimum 60pts, no special/heavy weapons, etc. Do they have any options nowadays? Wargear? What can the aspiring sorceror get? Does he have access to main rulebook powers?
Furthermore, if you have two HQ sorcerors, plus aspiring sorcerors, you're going to end up having multiple models with the same psychic powers. As I read it in the main rulebook, thats now allowed...right? How does the chaos codex address this?
Thousand sons biggest advantage in the last edition was to be able to move forward and still lay down AP3 bolter fire at 24". But now that ANY bolter can move forward and still shoot 1 shot at long range, that "advantage" is pretty much gone. Throw in the new version of slow and purposeful, and thousand sons look like they cant really keep up with other normal, cheaper, chaos marines. So, if you dont mind, sell me on the idea of thousand sons! Whats their deal? In your opinion, is a strictly thousand sons army viable?
For information about Ahriman, rage is +2 attacks when charging rather than the normal +1, it does not give additional strength.
Do Berzerkers still have a base of 2 attacks, or has this been reduced to 1 with the changes to marks. Also what options and special rules do they now have?

Its 150 for a sorcerer and 4 marines while in the last dex they were 152. Still have inferno bolts but now you can take an icon that can give all there guns (bolter,bolt pistols) the soul blaze special rules.Still no other options though. The aspiring sorcere has access to biomancy,pyromancy,and telepathy as well as the tzeench powers. mastery level 1.

Another one called the murder sword that gives a targeted character x2 str, ap 1, and gives the instant deat rule. Theres other artifacts but i wont post those. Any unit within 6 of the warp talons when they deep strike count as having been hit with blinded( in the rulebook)
The cover is a picture of a blood gorgon chaos marine. Its also the cover of a black library book. There is some new fluff. There is no more dreadnought its called a helbrute now and the only model available is the one from the starter set. But you can still use the forgeworld dreads you dont have to use an actual helbrute! Thats just the new name
Hurons artwork is badass. The hamadrya gives him access to lv 1 psyker. He rolls d3 for what discipline he gets (biomancy,pyromancy, and DIVINATION) his claw isnt a power fist anymore and is ap3 +2 str its more of a lightning claw that can punch tanks. No, defilers also can take a power scourge too
There are only 2 daemon weapons available, one is khorne only and the other is an AP4 mace. The old daemon weapons are gone :( No more god specific weapons.
Yeah, wanted the person who asked to be clear on the fact that "daemon weapons" as a purchase option are gone for good, and only 2 unique weapons that aren't the old daemon weapons are in their place. Annoying for fluffy players.
sonic blasters are 3pts per model, blastmaster is 30
With that being said i wont give all the points but 4 noise marines and a champ are cheaper than they are in the current dex. Apart from the champs the sonic marines do get anything else special excetp the feel no pain icon. i see noise marines being very popular in the not so distant future
"But, they can't assault after firing!"...oh wait 6th is about weight of fire and they are I5 with FnP and go first in CC anyway vs most things. So this is a non-factor in my eyes for most occurrences.

And you cn give the mark to obiterators so they can have that Toughness 5
Has Typhus and Ahirman stat lines changed?
Is Kharn's Ax actually an ax or does it have a special rule to make it not super slow?

I was wondering if chosen could be upgraded to have terminator armour? If so does Abaddon still make them troops?
The chosen and the terminators are 2 seperate choices. From what im reading abaddon only makes chosen troops. So no abaddon-wing.

Are there not artifacts that effect the whole army. Do they targets get auto blinded or do they have to test for it.
Who is the Chaos marine on the cover of the book?
I noticed that the page count is the same from that of the last edition. Is it just a color rehash or is there any new fluff content?
Also, any glimpses of new chaos dreadnoughts? I'm hoping that GW releases a kit that more resembles the FW Chaos Decimator.

All the characters are more dynamic and all are worth taking if not for some flavor in any fluff army. They really got this codex right.

Points vary on the d. weapons and they are one per army, very similar to the 3.5 dex. I belive anyone who has access to the wargear can take them.

nope they can only take 4. i wont get into points too much but havocs are cheap, like long fang cheap.autos are 10

If you take two marked lords/IC say Nurgle lord and a Slaanesh Lord will that unlock Sonic and PM's as troops? Or must you choose one or the other?
